“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven”.

C3 Global “Vision Builders” is similar to Hillsong’s “Kingdom Builders” concept.

Both C3 and Hillsong have some lay members who are very cashed up. I recall “Dr Phil” Pringle saying in 1998 that a C3 member, a lady, who had inherited serious money, I think $50 million, and had a very successful business, donated one million Australian Dollars to the C3 ‘Rise and Build’ building fund.

The ‘Rise and Build’ concept is based on scriptures from the Old Testament books of Ezra and Nehemiah which relates how Ezra, Nehemiah and other leaders organised the people of God to rebuild the Temple and its surrounds in Jerusalem. The Babylonians had captured Jerusalem, sacked it, taken its treasures and taken many of its inhabitants captive back to Babylon.

Below is an article by Tim Lowe the Senior Minister of C3 City Campus, as he calls himself, about the Vision Builders concept and practices.

Tim Lowe very proudly states:

“Tears filled my eyes and I began to weep as I was moved by ordinary everyday people, young and old, who told their stories of the journey in giving extraordinary amounts to God through Rise and Build to create a future for our Church, Children and Community.

I gave $50,000 that year. We can’t take people where we have not been ourselves. Little did I know that step of faith, commitment and sacrifice, was the beginning of building a capacity in us to lead a team of Champions who have now given over $4.5 Million to Vision Builders since planting C3 City Campus.”

“I gave $50,000 that year” Tim Lowe shares. The Prosperity Gospel is 180 degrees the opposite of the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, the suffering servant of Isaiah chapter 53.

The words of the Lord Jesus:

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven”.

Matthew 6:1

In context:

“1 Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Prayer

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

Matthew 6:1-8

I’m A Vision Builder – 5 Best Practices for Capital Fund Raising

Tim Lowe
Ps Tim Lowe, Senior Minister
C3 Church Oxford Falls, City Campus

“I have been passionate about Vision Builders since the moment I attended my first Rise and Build dinner at C3 Oxford Falls in 2000. I was a last minute invite from a girl I was dating – Kirrily. We sat up the back on table 10. All I recall was BIG balloons on the table and the presence of God falling upon me. Tears filled my eyes and I began to weep as I was moved by ordinary everyday people, young and old, who told their stories of the journey in giving extraordinary amounts to God through Rise and Build to create a future for our Church, Children and Community.

I gave $50,000 that year. We can’t take people where we have not been ourselves. Little did I know that step of faith, commitment and sacrifice, was the beginning of building a capacity in us to lead a team of Champions who have now given over $4.5 Million to Vision Builders since planting C3 City Campus.

I’m continually inspired, challenged and humbled by stories from around our movement of pastors who have had the courage to lead people to give to God raising Funds to build the church. This is not for the faint hearted but its what we do and who we are as Vision Builders. Ultimately vision builders is not about buildings it’s about transformed lives, and for this reason we must continually Arise and Build.

Here are just a few of the things we have learnt along the way:

Prayer – The most extensive preparation

I have always found God seekers become God builders because they have vision from seeking God (Ps127:1). Assign a team to pray into the Vision, gather core givers, leaders and business people to stand with you in prayer. Be inclusive. People give to what they pray into. 1 Chron 22:5 …” So David made extensive abundant preparation…18-19 He said to them, Now devote your heart Now devote your soul to seeking the LORD your God.’ Later on Nehemiah took on the task of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. He was not a prophet, priest or a king. He was a layman. His 10-recorded prayers range from short arrow prayers to the longest recorded prayer in the bible. Find a key person to head up your fund raising program and Pray!

Vision – Think BIG

Is 54: ‘Enlarge the place of your tent’
Enlarge: ‘En’ – to put into ‘Large’ – bigness = To put bigness into us.
We must continually be enlarged in our thinking and giving to reach new people. One of the most common things I have to repent from is not thinking big enough.

In Gen13:14-16, Abraham’s inheritance was only limited by the size of his Vision! Vision from God, it’s normally Grande, worthy of sacrifice and requires several steps of faith and bucket loads of commitment. Work out what’s doable with your resources, team, season and stage of growth, then stretch just beyond that into Faith to what’s doable with God. Cast that vision. Click here.

I recently received a call from a key leader who reminded me about a word I gave him 7 years ago that had haunted him, declaring there will be a day when you will earn $70,000 a month. At that stage he was earning $6,000 pm and struggling to get his head around earning $10,000 pm. He rang to thank me and advised he had grossed $120,000 that month and had $400,000 in the pipeline. Arise: means to ‘act diligently and persistently’. Don’t give up. Sometimes we need to change our provision settings mode from ‘off’ to ‘On’ and arise out of our past, our insecurities, our small thinking, lack, our circumstances. Think BIG.

Champions ‘Wherever there is Vision there will be Champions’

God always raise’s up Champions of the Vision. We have an amazing couple Tim and Rebecca Foote who are self employed & leaders, who since 2001 stepped up to become our vision builder directors. They have rallied our people, championed the vision, led the way giving with us and raised champion givers. Their story is amazing. Identify, develop and release champions. You can grow them, see them and believe in them. Prophesy and impart faith and vision. Give them roles and empower them to share the wisdom, trials and triumphs of their journey. Eat, Pray, Love and Gather them regularly. Put courage in them. Choose men of integrity who are given to you, sons of the house, market place ministers.

Neh 2:18 (MSG)…They said, “We’re with you. Let’s get started.” They rolled up their sleeves, ready for the good work.

Together: Engage everyone and take everyone with you

Neh 2.18…Let us Rise up and build… Everybody from ever tribe got involved.
The greatest thing about Vision Builders is everybody can be involved.
Build means: to create, form together, increase and strengthen. What we can Build is limited or unlimited based on our ability to form together. All the people you need are in your church. Build the TEAM and give them BUY IN. ‘We never test the resources of God until we attempt the impossible’ F.B Meyer 1871

The BIG Three FAITH SACRIFICE and COMMITMENT

Over the years I have tried to keep a Journey mentality not an Event mentality as we have navigated the twists and turns of Rise and Build. God seems to highlight different elements in different seasons i.e. faith sacrifice or commitment to help us so we do not burn out and have abundant supply. It’s so important to stop and celebrate all he has done, and then recast the Vision stirring faith, calling on fresh commitment and sacrifice.”
