The Hillsong Cult

Hillsong are like the small dog on a big street. Hillsong bark far louder than their size.

Hillsong cult congregants only comprise 150,000 worldwide.

Compare this to another Christian cult the Jehovah’s Witnesses who comprise 8.4 million worldwide and are in decline. It is inevitable that the Hillsong cult will be in decline at some stage.

The largest Christian cult in the world, The Mormons, number 16.6 million worldwide.

The Roman Catholic Church church worldwide numbers 1.2 billion.

There are between 800 million and 1 billion Protestants worldwide.

Hillsong’s 150,000 members comprise a minute fraction of worldwide Protestants. (0.002 per cent).

So are Hillsong’s numbers staggering? Hardly.

Hillsong’s great noise and influence is solely in their domination of Pentecostal Christian music.

Protestantism by Country (Wikipedia)

“There are between 800 million and 1 billion Protestants world-wide, among approximately 2.5 billion Christians. In 2010, a total of more than 800 million included 300 million in Sub-Saharan Africa, 260 million in the Americas, 140 million in Asia-Pacific region, 100 million in Europe and 2 million in Middle East-North Africa. Protestants account for nearly forty percent of Christians worldwide and more than one tenth of the total human population. Various estimates put the percentage of Protestants in relation to the total number of the world’s Christians at 33%, 36%, 36.7%, and 40%, while in relation to the world’s population at 11.6% and 13%.”
