This has always been my favourite Keith Green song.

Keith Green was one of a number of Christian musician super-stars in Western International Christian circles in the 1970s to 1980s, when Keith Green died in a plane crash.

Keith Green, a number of his children and some friends died in a light plane crash near his farm in Texas in 1982.

In 1982 I was in my second year Sydney and heavily involved in Christian Life Centre Darlinghurst (the second name for Hillsong).

The news of Keith Green’s death came as a shock.

There was international speculation in Christian circles that maybe Keith Green had done something wrong, maybe it was God’s judgement, maybe Keith had become too judgmental of other Christians, maybe Keith was being too intense and heavy with people, and so on.

We will only know on the other side the reason for many things.

I think it was just an accident from overloading the plane. We’re not puppets and if we make mistakes with machines, we will bear the consequences.

We should appreciate life, and keep our lives in order with Almighty God- through the Lord Jesus Christ

My father Rev Reuben Donald Elley was a leading New Zealand Presbyterian clergy for over fifty years.

Dad’s favourite Psalm was Psalm 121.

Psalm 23 was another favourite.
