The reason is they’re afraid that it will affect their reputation.
Many Australians would be surprised that Paul Keating is gay. After all Paul had a wife and family. Somewhere along the line, like other successful Australian men, Paul got kinky and started to bat left of centre.
There are accusations online of Paul Keating having a penchant for boys. In particular, Asian boys. That he would go with his gay pals to places like Thailand. I was there in the 1990s and saw busloads of European men in Bangkok looking for all kinds of pleasures. It’s well-documented. Back then such things weren’t policed.

This is untrue. This is just a cover or ruse to portray respectability. Paul Keating is deceiving Australia and the world with this kind of stunt and deception. This has been Keating’s false story for decades.
In 1993 I received my Australian citizenship from then Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating at the Sydney Town Hall in front of thousands of people at a special commemoration citizenship ceremony.
I was chosen because I was a New Zealand emigrant businessman who’d done well in Australia. I was the only Anglo-Saxon and the other candidates for citizenship came from all over the world. The Australian government was illustrating the multiculturalism of Australia.
Paul Keating arrived with a large entourage and fanfare. Assistants and media, the whole shebang. He was quite something in those days and knew how to play the game, maintain the invincibility and aura.

When Paul Keating was Australian Federal Treasurer in the late 1980s, under his economic ‘governance’, and as a direct result of him dismantling Australian tariffs on imports carte blanche, the Australian economy went into a major recession. It was all Paul’s fault and yet to this day Paul sees himself as an economic hero.

This time it was a corker. It said, emphatically, that the Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, and his wife, Margie Abbott, had separated but that they would stay together for the sake of the country.
I’ve paraphrased the message somewhat because it was lengthy – but that was the gist.
So I started looking at photos of Tony and Margie together. Yes, she looks exhausted and stressed. But I’m pretty sure that’s how the partners of all politicians look. And then I recalled all the gossip about all the prime ministers since I’ve been a journalist. This is the shortlist (there was so so much more):
Malcolm Fraser – he and Tamie would divorce. Bob Hawke – he and Hazel would divorce. Paul Keating – he and Annita would divorce because he was secretly gay…”

Apparently it’s OK to completely cross the line, descend into sexual harassment, and if pushed perhaps even blame her for agreeing to do the interview in the first place.

Just because you saw him on tv as a married man, does not mean he’s not gay. It’s now confirmed that he’s living with a gay lover in Potts point. Paul isn’t the only politician that hid his homosexuality by marrying a woman. Jeff Kennett (yes the ex Victorian premier) did the same thing. Want me to name some more famous people?
